Statement of Mission

International Internet Idol (aka Triple I) is a non-profit organization (501c pending) dedicated to providing vocalists a friendly and supportive atmosphere to compete amongst each other and gain recognition from the greater community.

A Word on the Greater Online Singing Community...

Within the past 5 or 6 years, the internet has become a tool for artist and band promotion, recording, and other music business related resources. During this time, websites like Dare to Sing were created in order to give solo singers a chance to show off their talent. As time went by, competitions were created by people in the community, for others in the community. These early competitions were the base for what was a string of competitions that occurred later in 2005.

From the Ground Up...

Triple I’s founder, Jeremy Sidabras, first got involved in the online singing community through following the early competition Online Idol, and various recordings on Dare to Sing. Over time he became the judge in many other competitions, as well as a competitor in a few. However, because he was not happy with the structure of these competitions, he came up with that idea of creating his own.

At 3am on November 2nd, 2005, Jeremy decided that it was the right time to create the competition that he had been dreaming about for so long. However, within the first few days of the competition’s opening, problems started to occur. The first problem was with selecting a judges panel. Jeremy wanted a panel unlike other competition panels. Instead of putting together a panel of people in the community, he wanted to use actual music industry insiders in order to help out the singers in the competition. But because there was a large interest in the positions, Jeremy decided to let a few singing community people into the judging panel. The very first panel included: Deborah Berry, Brad Kish, Joalby, Jacob Dee, and himself. After a huge uproar about one of these selections, singer and actor Ricky Hoggard contacted Jeremy about replacing Jacob, and using him instead. While this sounded like a normal singing community arguement, Jeremy decided to make the switch, and completed the judging panel.

A few days later, Jeremy was pulled down by large amounts of school work, and was unable to fully develop the start of Triple I. However, judge Ricky Hoggard stepped in and not only helped to reorganize the website based forum, but also started to scout out audition talent. Within two weeks time, both Ricky and Jeremy had scouted a bit over 20 auditions. The audition process consisted not of people sending in their auditions, but for the first time, auditions were posted by the competitors, for all to hear. Judges responded, and the Top 20 was selected.

In the next round, there were two groups of ten. In these groups, five people would be put through to the next round, and four more would be added based on a wildcard show. On November 25th 2005, the first group of ten performed, and in the results Karlee, Rod, Brett, Elisha, and Amy made it to the top 14. In the next group, the public put through Tia, Charly, Nathan, Dave, and Dean. Next, four more singers were chosen out of the remaining ten in the special wildcard round. This round added Kass, Nicole, Ollie, and Lee.

Now that the Top 14 was complete, the finals began on December 16, 2005. And each week a singer was eliminated based off the public vote. On February 23, 2006, Triple I hit another milestone by becoming the first online competition to create a format that supported a two week judges choice rond. In these two weeks, the remaining contestants selected songs based off judges lists complied for each singer. And if a select singer made it through both rounds, they would have made it through a selection by each judge. Meaning that they have made it past every task possible besides winning the competition.

Season 2 brought many changes to the competition by giving a new look and format. When auditions started the competition was given its own site, as well as a new .com address. This season consisted of a Top 12 instead of a Top 14, and season 1 winner Nathan became a judge due to Joalby’s departure. And after weeks of heavy competition, Jeanie, Ruth, and Gail battled it out in our season 2 finale. On September 16, 2006 Gail was named the season 2 Idol.

Recently season 3 auditions have been open, as well as auditions for an All Stars season. However, due to delays, both are still in the works. Stay tuned as Triple I looks to expand to bigger and better things in 2007. This will include a special announcement in the middle of the year, which will put Triple I once again on top.
